The Contribution of Peer and media influences to the development of body satisfaction and self-esteem in young girls: A prospective study.- Chelsea

The article “ The contribution of peer and media influences to the development of body satisfaction on and self-esteem in young girls: A prospective study” talks about a study that was performed to examine the told of peer and media influences in the development of body satisfaction in young girls and also talking about the relationship between body satisfaction and self esteem. The article also goes into detail about how body image concerns have been linked to numerous pathological problems including depression, obesity, dieting and eating disorders.

After reading this article , it just furthered my opinion about the media and the influences it has on young girls. In the study conducted ( investigating the direct relationship between self-esteem and body dissatisfaction specifically in young girls) the most interesting part were the results. The researchers found the media has a direct influence on young girls even just from the influences of commercials. Throughout the past few months I have done extensive researchers to back my belief on media influences on the public and this article/ results proves that in directly affects our society.
