Bigger Stronger Faster

In the documentary Bigger Faster Stronger, director Christopher Bell interviews several people such as his two brothers that admit to using steroids, his father who is also his mentor, his younger brother’s weight training instructor, and several others about why the use of steroids is such a prominent topic and focus in America. The video covers a lot about opinions on the health issues and the legality concerning the use anabolic steroids, but the biggest question the documentary asked was, “are the steroids and the people using steroids to blame, or is America to blame with it’s image of superiority by overcoming the odds by any means. “

In magazines, television, and many other forms of media, we are constantly showed through out all ages that attention and attractiveness will get you anything you can ever need or want; women, popularity, fame. The problem is the limits to which people will go to try and achieve those things. And it’s not what they need to get those things, but what movies, advertisements, and billboards are telling them they need to get those things. Numbers of people with body dysmorphia, and the people that will develop it, will continue to rise if the ideal image of people continues to be an almost humanly unattainable unless created with plastic and the use of a photoshop program body.
